Reading Music Festival 2010 for Festival Annual 10
Reading Music Festival is the world’s oldest popular music festival still in existence. Held annually in the town of Reading, England, this year’s event was attended by over 80,000 people.
I photographed the festival for the very cool bunch of people at Festival Annual. They publish a yearly anthology of music festivals around the British isles; a genius view into the UK’s Music Festival subculture. This is where a lot of music, entertainment and fashion trends emerge. This is where many an adolescent story to be told, but the pictures speak for themselves in that regard. There’s over 40 of my images in the book, it’s available here and if you use promo code ‘FELIX’ during checkout, you get a nice little discount. It makes a great christmas present for anyone who loves music, concerts, gigs or festivals.
Below a sampling of some of my images, much more in the book.

The book:

The back cover of the book includes one of my images (the centre one) as well as some gorgeous double page spreads of some of my images:

The individual pages are very nicely laid out, each with a theme that shows a specific aspect of the festival.
The book also features Reading photography by my friend Oscar May as well as coverage of all the other major music festivals in the country.

Copenhagen Fashion Week 2010 – Spring/Summer 2011
It’s only fashion but I like it.
I flew to Denmark for the second time in 2 months to cover Copenhagen Fashion Week for Getty Images and Wireimage. There’s something incredibly clean and crisp about Nordic design – I’m drawn to it. The Danes and their scandinavian companions tend to pull off some interesting shows, there’s a snapshot of that in the video below. There’s a lot more if you head over to wireimage.com and search for ‘Felix Kunze Copenhagen’.
Fashion week is 12 hour days of shooting one show after the other, lots of editing and uploads to the agency during the night, very little sleep, many turned down invitations to parties and a lot of mad fun on the press bus that takes us from show to show.
Apart from the interesting talent on show, notable at Fashion week were: the grace of Crown Princes Mary of Denmark, the appearance of fashion regulars such as James Goldstein (seen in the video wearing a cowboy-like hat), The Worlds Greatest Catwalk – a Guinness world records attempt for the longest catwalk, hosted by danish supermodel Helena Christensen with entertainment by Mads Langer and the general atmosphere in the crowd and around Copenhagen. I think the below gives a good glimpse of the atmosphere at the show.

Marilyn
By now you’ll have figured out that I’m posting a bunch of fashion/lifestyle images taken on my recent trip to Mexico and the Caribbean. This is one of my favorites, I’m calling it simply ‘Marilyn’.
The dress is Roberto Cavalli, taken on a yacht off Tabacco Caye in the Barrier reef of Belize. We couldn’t have asked for more perfect conditions – the wind worked, the light worked and we had a great time, as usual.

Beauty in Motion & Happy New Year
Here’s something a little different for New Year’s Eve.
This was shot on one of the southern islands of Belize’s Glovers Reef. Fun fact: Did you know that Belize’s Barrier Reef is the 2nd largest in the world, only Australia’s Great Barrier reef is larger.
We had just finished shooting a bunch of lifestyle shots on the island (which has no inhabitants) and were walking back to the jet-ski (yep, I transported my gear on a jet-ski!) when I turned around and saw the silhouette. I asked Barbara to do some graceful poses, the result is included below.
With that, I also wanted to say Happy New Year to all those who come across my site, it’s been a great year and I’m very excited for 2010.

Tobacco Caye Water
Here’s another shot involving my recent client and water.
There’s a black and white companion image, where her eyes are open, it’s quite stunning – I’ll try post it here in the next couple of days.

Caribbean Rocks
We shot this in the breakwater rocks off a deserted little Island in Glovers Reef, Belize.
The model is doing a priceless job here. You’d never guess that the rocks she’s balancing on are not the soft, smooth pebbles they are pretending to be, oh no, they are ragged, hard, spiky rocks, working their way slowly but surely into the skin of my client!
