Matt James Thomas, the British Spiderman

Full page photoA few months ago I  shot publicity photographs of Matt James Thomas, the British lead of the new rock musical, Spiderman on Broadway ‘Turn off the dark’. He’s the alternate lead, which means he doesn’t lead all shows but he isn’t an understudy, he is the lead in several shows a week along with the main lead, Reeve Carney.

Shot on a rooftop and other locations around Manhattan, the images are now a title feature in M Magazine, a nifty online magazine chronicling all things London theatre. The images are now also represented by my celebrity portraiture licensing and syndication agent Contour.

See the feature below and read the rest of the magazine here.

H Magazine Editorial – Goddesses of Radio

H Magazine spread

We shot this editorial in Malibu, California in March with Kerri Kasem and Ashley Marriott of The K-Pod, a very cool podcast. It’s now a major feature in H Magazine, a glossy mag popular in LA and New York.

We shot this in a beautiful meadow in Malibu, with a great crew. I had come off a plane from LA a couple of hours before the shoot, having just flown in from Haiti with about an hour of sleep. Kerri had assembled a great team & with lots of coffee, great energy and great people we got a shoot together that I’m absolutely in love with. I’m so happy to be able to finally share these images. I’ve been itching to get them out for over 6 months…

Roskilde Music Festival 2010

I went to Denmark to cover the amazing 40th Roskilde Music Festival. Roskilde is a small town 1/2 hour outside of Copenhagen. The festival is held on a farm that is repurposed for the festival.

As one of Europe’s top three festivals, attended by over 110,000 people, Roskilde has a reputation for a laid back attitude of fun and as Thorsten Overgaard said ‘lots of dust, beautiful girls and neanderthal men’.

My highlights were Muse, Florence + the Machine and Biffy Clyro. Prince also put on a spectacular show. I jostled for space in the press pit with many other photographers to photograph these bands:

Muse – British prog rock awesomeness
Biffy Clyro – Scottish rockers
Florence + The Machine – British folk done right
Alice in Chains – influential 90’s rock (US)
Bad Lieutenant – formerly New Order (UK)
Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni BA – world music (Mali)
CV Jørgensen – singer-songwriter (Denmark)
Den Sorte Skole (The Black School) – Copenhagen’s 3 piece DJ set – amazing (Denmark)
Efterklang – up and coming atmospheric pop-rock (Denmark) – watch for these guys
Gorillaz – Damon Albarn’s trip hop project (UK)
Jack Johnson – chilled Hawaiian folk (US)
Julian Marley – Bob Marley’s son – rasta reggae (UK)
Kasabian – indie rock (UK)
Pavement – indie Rock (US)
Patti Smith – singer-songwriter – legendary ‘godmother of punk’ – (US)
Pendulum – electronic rock (Australia)
The Prodigy – electronic dance (UK)
The Temper Trap – alternative rock (Australia)
Vampire Weekend – fun indie rock (US)

_FKP4400_950wtext

Come to Brighton’s seafront Umi Hotel at 3pm on the 26th of June for the grand finale of the exhibition of work inspired by and produced during the relief efforts in Haiti.
Felix will be hosting this event and amongst others will share some of my experiences working with the children orphaned by the earthquake in Haiti. Felix photographed all the individual orphans and provided all imagery to help the orphanage gain sponsors – the orphanage is a project close to his heart.
Several of Felix’s pieces from Haiti are on display. There’ll be live music, wine, snacks and great conversation to look forward to. Felix will be in the UK for just over 48 hours to host this event before going onto his next project.
Alternatively, request a tear sheet of the pieces on show by emailing Felix and putting ‘Tear Sheet’ in the subject line.

Recent Haiti & other media coverage

I’ve been on a media bonanza recently. I want to help spread awareness of the situation in Haiti. I feel it’s important to educate yourself on the situation in Haiti.

I’ve just gotten an interview published on the fascinating Miss Eco Glam blog. It’s a good read for anyone interested in healthy living. Check it out here.

I also did an interview on Photowalkthrough.com, a popular photography podcast: Listen to it here.  It’s more Haiti than photography.

There’s also an interview coming up on www.photonetcast.com – again about Haiti.

Separately we’ve been working on our inspire meetups and Lara also mentioned it on her blog here.

On the lighter side of things, I phoned into the fun Kpod again, had an informal chat with the ladies that descended into a ridiculously fun gigglefest. Listen here.

I really should have a separate blog area for all the media coverage!
