Hana-li
Hana-li is a talented US singer-songwriter. As well as her own performances and brilliant covers, she co-writes with artists in LA and New York and like me, she’s never in one place for very long.
After seeing her do a particularly fetching cover of a Muse song, which just happens to be one of my favorite bands, I just had to have her in the studio.

We shot a simple studio session. Her Debut EP is called ‘From the Dark’, so naturally we shot some darker images.

I knew Hana-li wouldn’t need direction in styling, and like all good subjects, she brought a ton of cool clothing to use.

In combination with her own unique style, it was easy to create some interesting portraits in a relatively fast sitting.

Hana-li did her own make-up and hair and we used Brad Kugler‘s Florida studio.

You can follow her through her website at Hana-li.com – something else that convinced me of Hana-li’s talents is that, unlike others in the music industry, she does not auto-tune her voice. When you watch some of her performances, you really get a sense of the quality of her voice. Quite astounding actually
